We have only just started promoting this through informal channels, and already it is nearly sold out!  There are just three seats left.  Once again, Marie and I will be running this workshop together.  Contact Marie at 905-320-3130, or Lorraine and me at 905-481-0704, if you have any questions, or to book your seat.

Venue: Memories by Marie photography studio, Burlington, ON

Date: Saturday, April 2, 2010

Objectives :

You will leave our workshop with a better understanding of how to operate your digital SLR camera (or your advanced point-and-shoot camera). We will help you to get comfortable moving away from your camera’s fully automatic mode, so that you begin taking better pictures in semi-automatic mode. You will learn how to use your camera and natural light to take good portraits. You will have the opportunity to try hands-on, using your own camera, the natural lighting portrait techniques that we will provide to you. Finally, we will show you how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make a good photo better, one that is ready to be made into a beautiful print for display in your home.

To ensure that all students receive personal attention, attendance at the workshop is limited to 10 people.

You Must Bring:

- Your digital camera. Preferably it is a DSLR. An advanced point-and-shoot camera, which offers aperture-priority semi-automatic mode, is also suitable. Make sure that your batteries are charged and that you have a clear memory card. In case your camera model is one that we are unfamiliar with, please bring its instruction manual for our reference; this will help us to better answer any question you have that are specific to your camera model.

You May Optionally Bring:

- You are welcome to bring the prints of 2 or 3 photos that you have taken, to discuss with the instructors. These can be ones that you are particularly proud of, or ones that suffered from problems that you would like our help in trying to solve, or ones that are good but you wish were better.

- It is not necessary, but if you would like to follow along as we demonstrate the post-production techniques, trying them out for yourself, you are welcome to bring: your laptop computer, with Adobe Photoshop Elements (either retail or trial version) already installed and working; and a card reader or USB cable, so that you can upload your photos to your laptop for processing.

We Will Provide:

- Coffee

- A light lunch

- A written summary of key course content, including step by step instructions for making a good portrait using natural light.

Price

The cost of the workshop is $299 plus HST. Payment for the workshop is non-refundable and is due in full upon booking.

Although changes are unlikely, the organizers reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the workshop. Should the workshop be cancelled, refunds in full will be offered to all registered students.
