I have produced two more variants for my client to consider, along with my initial version.

Cottage Fun

Lumacraft-6754

Last weekend, we visited my aunt and uncle at their cottage in The Kawarthas.  We were lucky with the weather, and my sons and nephews got to go water tubing on both days.

Lumacraft-6528 I think it is fair to say that these two cousins did not share the same comfort level with the activity.

Lumacraft-7082Tubing gave Matt a perma-grin.

Lumacraft-6858Spectacular wipe-outs were part of the fun.

My brother-in-law asked me why I was working away at making photographs, when the weekend was meant to be a mini vacation.  I reminded him of the reason that I had become a professional photographer.  “Do what you love, and you will never work another day in your life.”

A garden ornament gave me the opportunity to make a self portrait of sorts.  Although, that darn convex mirror makes me look kind of portly.  Actually I am quite slim.  It’s just the mirror.  Really.

Burlington Waterfront

A client has commissioned me to photograph Burlington’s waterfront and produce a framed print as a gift for her husband.  The constraints are that the photograph is to be black-and-white, and the aspect ratio is be square.

Here is my first attempt.  I think she is looking for more cityscape and less landscape than this.  I have picked out another location, and will try again from that vantage point next week.

Blogger does a less than great job of rescaling photographs.  Click on the image below to see a larger version that has been spared Blogger’s touch.

I Love Painting

Lumacraft-4806-painting

Did you know that I do paintings too?  Drawing and painting were my primary creative interests for much of my youth and early adulthood, before I became serious about photography.  Digital painting is the ultimate convergence of my creative interests.

Why not go beyond a photographic portrait, and commission me to produce your painted portrait?  Created using digitally techniques, digital paintings cost just a small fraction of painted portraits made by traditional methods.

Summer Portrait Special is for Everyone!

I want to stress that the amazing summer portrait special that I announced this week can be applied to any solo subject and to portraits of any style.

So, use it to have me portray the spirit of your tomboy daughter, or the character of your newly graduated son.  Immortalize grandma.  Spruce up your new business website with images that capture your authority and professionalism.  Perk up your dating site profile with a fetching new portrait.

You get the idea.

Glamour and beauty may be my speciality, but I strive to be versatile.  I put all of my skill and effort into every portrait that I make, of every kind.

0389__MG_7740-web

One of my wedding album suppliers is now providing me with online animated slideshow presentations of the albums that they produce for me.  Here is one of my favourites, Sabrina’s and Ryan’s from last summer.

I love designing one-of-a-kind  creative collage wedding albums that are inspired by the unique colours and experience of your day.

Memories of Mexico

_MG_5325

We have just returned from one week spent at Riu Yucatan resort on the Mayan Riviera, our first real family vacation in over two years. The resort was at only 60% occupancy due to the economy and health concerns, but the service, weather, and relaxation that we enjoyed were all 100% good.

Upcoming Workshops

Our next creative newborn portrait workshop will be held by Marie and me on Monday and Tuesday, September 14-15.  There are currently four spots left.

Are you a photographer interested in learning the creative, technical and business aspects of creative boudoir portraiture?  Marie and I will be conducting a two-day workshop on that subject on Monday and Tuesday, September 21-22.  I am excited by the concepts that we have come up with for this one!  Stay tuned for the full course outline.  This workshop already has two pre-registrants, with four spots still open.

On Sunday July 26, I will be running my first facilitated group shoot for photographers at my studio.  The theme will be artistic nude figure study, with model Sheri Knox.  Look for the details to be posted here shortly.

If you’re interested in any of the above, contact me and I will hold a spot for you until the details are finalized and the events appear in my web store.
