I have had various kinds of presence on the web for several years, but somehow never in the form of a blog. So I am late to the blogging party, but now that I'm here, I plan on having a good time.
My venture into blogging is part of a revamp of my website.
Lumacraft Photography's original website was approaching three years old, and it was showing its age. While I have long been nurturing ideas for refreshing the site, I knew these would require rebuilding it from the ground up, and there never seemed to be enough time for that. Thanks to a push yesterday from my good friend Marie of Beauty on the Go and Memories by Marie, I decided to see how much could be accomplished by investing just one day in the project.
The new site needs fine tuning and looks scruffy in spots, some content is obviously missing, and there are more elements that I intend to add. But V2 of lumacraft.com is up, less than 24 hours after I started working on it.
I wanted the new site to have two sides to it. First, a blog, so that I can provide regular quick updates on our activities, with some personality. I just needed something basic, robust and easy to use, and Blogger seemed the obvious choice.
I wanted the flip side of the new website to be centred on an image gallery, one with an appealing design that is also easy to maintain. I chose Imagevue as my platform, as it came closest to offering all of the features that I was looking for. Version 2, which is supposed to be available in beta next month, comes even closer.
Of course a business website also needs to provide a profile of the the company, and describe its products and services. I am tacking these elements to the gallery's menu, as I want the gallery to take centre stage.
Please look over the new website, kick the tires, and let me know what you think. Check back later too, as the gallery in particular will be blossoming with added content.
